Hello!
Im totally lost when it comes to finding out what kind of PSU I should have for my computer. And if I need to upgrade it for a bether one.
Ive done some reseach and found out that:

Intel Core i7-950 (3.06GHz = Peak 117W
and the MSI R9 290 Gaming peaks at 399W? Atleast that what it say on the link I found:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-290-and-290x,3728-4.html

When I use CPUIDMonitor the voltages are stable.

Voltage 0 1.22 Volts [0x99] (CPU VCORE)
Voltage 1 - 1.74 Volts [0xDA] (VIN1)
Voltage 2 - 3.25 Volts [0xCB] (+3.3V)
Voltage 3 - 4.85 Volts [0xCA] (+5V)
Voltage 4 - 11.99 Volts [0xD7] (+12V)
Voltage 6 - 1.22 Volts [0x98] (VIN6)

Im using a Silver Power 600W PSU http://www.anandtech.com/show/2308

The components I got on my computer are the following:

Intel i7 Quad Processor i7-950
Quad Core, 3,06Ghz, Socket 1366, 8MB, 130W, Boxed

ASUS P6X58D-E, Socket-1366
ATX, X58, DDR3, 3xPCIe(2.0)x16, GbLAN, FireWire, S

MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming 4GB GDDR5
PCI-Express 3.0, "Twin Frozr IV", DL-DVI-D + DL-DV

Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 12GB CL9
Kit w/3x 4GB XMS3 modules, CL9-9-9-24, 1.5V, Venge

HyperX 3K SSD 240GB 2.5"
SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 555MB/510MB/s read/write

Fractal Design R2 80mm Silent x3

Noctua NF-F12 PWM 120mm x2

In my opinion, you are a bit tight.

Your GPU consumes up to almost 300W (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_graphics_processing_units#Volcanic_Islands_.28Rx_200.29_Series) and the i7-950 is around 130W (http://ark.intel.com/products/37150/Intel-Core-i7-950-Processor-8M-Cache-3_06-GHz-4_80-GTs-Intel-QPI) (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i7/Intel-Core%20i7-950%20AT80601002112AA%20.html)

So feed that monster of yours with something a little more powerful, like a 650 / 700

Good luck with that, hope I helped.
