What is your opinion? Will being limited to 30fps really change gaming? I don't play first person shooters - primarily games like Skyrim, etc.

I am using 3 GTX670s 4gb vram to power the monitor.

No with the high end cards, I always recommend 60hz monitors for ANY gaming. It is really no point of having full 4K and then playing at console frame rates :p

If you do that then you might as well buy a console and sit back on the couch. Personally this thread would just devolve into the classic can't see past 30 debate in my opinion due to the nature of this topic.

Just wait a few months and be patient. They'll have cheaper 60Hz 4K panels out before you know it and then you'll feel the buyers remorse sink in if you buy now.

Okay, ignoring the argument between console/PC - if I can tolerate console viewing, will it be the same if I'm playing a PC game on this monitor?

You could try setting your monitor to 30hz and see how you feel about it. I personally wouldn't want it but to each there own.

For that price I'd probably grab one of the korean 1440p S-ips monitors from ebay for a similar price. But again, thats just me.

Thats a good point. Try limiting your fps to 30 or your monitor to 30Hz and see how you feel about it.
