I am in the market for a gaming pc, i am going to buy a i5 4690k, a hyper 212 plus, evga 750w, 8 gb g skill 1600, and the mobo is a z97 gaming 5 by gb, i will play games like battlefield 4, minecraft two player multi monitor and gta 5..
i want 1080p at 60fps.
fan noise is not a problem, i would like it to run cool .
i am now stuck with either the r9 280x and the gtx 970, i was going to buy the toxic but it is a little pricey, and i dont know which gtx 970 to buy......
which card will give solid performance and occasional multi monitor setup .....
Thank You.

here is how it goes. any gtx *80 has the performance of a next gen *70. So heres a trail, 580 = 670 = 760 and 780 = 970

The GTX 970 over the 280X isn't even a question. The GTX 970 is a full 45% faster than the 280X. But that's only a small part of the equation, with the GTX 970 you'll also get a card that is cooler, quieter, uses less power, offers full DirectX 12 support and access to exclusive graphics settings like DSR, MFAA, TXAA, FXAA, PhysX, HBAO+, and Adaptive VSync.

I really like the Asus Strix card covered in this review. It has all custom upgraded components and fans that don't turn on until the card hits 67c. Above that temperature, the fans are still way quieter than most other 970s. Compare that to the EVGA SC model, which uses all reference components and comes in a full 10 dBA louder when gaming.
