Kmsoars :
Just got a 1TB WD Passport and am trying to backup my Windows 7 HP laptop. I set it to run at night and when I wake up it says it was unsuccessful. When I tried to run disk check it hangs up at 285 files. A suggestion was it is timing out because the drive is USB 3.0 and I need to get a 3.0 hub and it should be fine. Anyone else hear of this and is this a good suggestion?
Hey there, Kmsoars!
Is there any error message when you try to back up and it is unsuccessful? Like these?

My Passport should be compatible with the USB 2.0 as well, it's just that the transfer is a bit slower.
I would suggest to first try to re-install your USB drivers before going through the trouble of getting a new 3.0 hub and see if it can help.
Also I'd recommend you to use WD SmartWare or Acronis True Image WD Edition as back-up softwares.
SmartWare is specifically designed for WD products to backup data:

Acronis True Image WD Edition you can use for a full image backup/cloning or migration, including your system files:

With both - you can choose what gets backed up and what doesn't.
Hope this expands your options and helps.
