Hi guys

I recently built my own computer I am having a few problems with it, one of which being that when I plug in my earphones to the front port the audio output device does not change. However it does come up saying a jack has been plugged in and then the Realtek HD audio manager comes up asking me what type of device did I plug in and I select headphones. It then asks me what type earphones or headphones so I select earphones I then click ok and it doesnt ask me anything more but my audio output still comes out through the speakers built into my monitor and I have to open a different Realtek window from the icons down next to my clock and change my earphones to default for them to work can anybody help me because im not very computer savy and have tried everything to get it to do it automatically.

Thanks

If you have Windows 7 go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound (or search "sound" in start). Under Playback tab select which output device you want and click Set Default.
