Newegg not offering free game with GTX 970 and 980 ? Why?

I picked up a used 780 for $390 on newegg not 2 days before they released the 970 and 980. Had no idea this was coming or that the older series was going to get discontinued. Noticed that the 970 and 980 do not come with a free game, but the older 780 TI does, as do a number of other cards.

Anyone know why?

They are not giving stuff away for free. They are presenting you with an inducement to buy crap they don't want sucking up space in the warehouse.

the Nvidia partners tend to bundle up certain games to up the sales of their cards
but this strategy comes in a little later when sales go down
the 900 is was released recently and it is going to sell anyway
like just a few days before the 900 series release Nvidia bundled the 700 series cards with Borderlands
this was an attempt to boost sales because of the low sales of thier cards due to the 900 series's anticipated release
you'll have t wait a while before they start bundling these cards though
PS: the MSI GTX 970 twin frozer 5 has a cool mouse pad in the box if not a game!

The games were a Marketing tactic to get people to purchase the cards before the newly released 900 series. When the 700 series was released, they didn't start offering games for a few months.

What kind of person doesn't understand how someone else may not be aware of a brand new card that hasn't been advertised yet. I don't sit on google all day searching for future computer components that weren't out yet and how they compare to one of the cards that just went on sale for a big discount. People who don't sleep on a bed of pc gear magazines wouldn't know the GTX 970 would wreck the GTX 780 by that much and also be cheaper new than the GTX 780 is open box.

I purchased an ASUS GTX 970 on November 28th. No codes came with the video card. I contacted the seller of the video card and they got me the code to get a free copy of far cry 4. Trying getting in touch with the store.
If you don't ask ... Nobody will give you something for free !
