Another self-explanatory title ><. I've recently built a new computer, and everything is working fine, including m primary graphics card. However, I'm trying to install my old Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX as my secondary GPU. When I put it in the slot, and power up though- I get a long, consistent, non-stop beep (not multiple beeps, just one neverending noise).

It's very possible that the card can be dead, but are there other possible reasons for this?

Solution
You can have both in your system but it can only be used to run a second monitor not for gaming because the driver will disable the gpu by force when the driver detects non Nvidia discrete gpu inside your system

Ah- okay. Thank you. So, I'll assume that the same would be the case if I were to use my old Nvidia 8600GT instead of the 8800? Do all Nvidia cards come with this programming, or is it unique to a specific line, or...?

Sadly Nvidia place this rule for all of there cards through their drivers and AMD don't make Nvidia drivers so it's no way to mix AMD with Nvidia. In the past some people used hacked drivers but not sure if it still works because Nvidia try's to close every way they'er card will work with AMD
