Approximate Purchase Date: 4-5 weeks preferred, but can wait longer if needed

Budget Range: Max $1k, preferably around $800 though

System Usage from Most to Least Important: CAD/CAM software, e.g. Surfcam (mainly), MasterCam, Solidworks and very light AutoCad. This will be a home work station, my laptop will be what I use for web surfing and note taking for the most part.

Are you buying a monitor: No, planning on hooking up to my TV for the display

Parts to Upgrade: None, complete new build

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, will probably run windows 7 or 8 64 bit, don't really care which.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: anything reputable

Location: Orange, Ca

Parts Preferences: Nothing preferred, although some software recommend Intel/NVIDIA items.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: ? No Idea.

Your Monitor Resolution: Using my TV so 1080p? I might buy a monitor later on down the road.

Additional Comments: (e.g.: Need to have a window and lots of bling, I would like a quiet PC. Please also list specific software or games you're using)

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My 2008 laptop doesn't hold up to the rendering of Solidworks or Mastercam. Time for a dedicated build.

CPU: Looking at either an Intel i5 or i7 or similar AMD as that is what they recommend for the apps, as well as an NVIDIA Quadro, but i believe this is out of my price range so a similar NVIDIA geforce or other with at least 2GB would work. Other than that, I have no idea what I'm looking for or what goes together well. That being said, I can buy the parts and install everything myself, not an issue there.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

After doing some more digging and research of my own I came up with this build:

Not sure if what I have is enough, or if it's too much. Is a CPU Cooler necessary? Is the Wireless card necessary? I'm pretty green at the building the comp thing.

Also, I'm at the tip top of my budget, let me know if there is anything you think I can cut back on or where I should relocate my funds to. Keeping in mind, this will be mainly used for 2D/3D Solidworks, 2D Surfcam and 2D/3D (mainly 2D) Mastercam projects.

Thank you again for the input in advance.
