I have this ASUS motherboard that wouldn't boot and would only display a black screen with a flashing dash. Sometimes it works though, but shuts down after a while. I replaced the CMOS battery and it did work well for a while again but later it started doing the same thing. I removed the new battery and started it up, it booted fine and the windows too is working well. Is it ok working without any battery?

Probably, but it won't hold any BIOS settings other than the default ones, and the clock will probably have to be set each time you boot.

I see! The problem was in the BIOS indeed. I'm not sure which battery to use. What do you suggest?

Most any ware they sell batteries, should have them.

Just checked, they are 3 volt.

A new one puts out 3.3 or more.

The number for all brands is CR2032
