I have the FX 6300 processor and I have run CPU-Z to check my core speed and info at idle... I have found the core speed is fluctuating quite dramatically it can go from 1.4 to 3.8 to 4.1mhz...

Why could this be happening?

Thank you guys

Solution
It's the power saving features when your computer don't need to use power it don't need it down clocks it self to save power. You can try turning off all of the power saving features if you really are concerned:

Cool'n'Quiet - Disabled
C1E - Disabled
SVM - Disabled unless running Virtual Machines
Core C6 State - Disabled
HPC Mode - Enabled (Some motherboards this has caused freezing so keep that in mind)
Amp Master Mode - Disabled

This will stop the Fluctuating your seeing

No, these features do not restrict anything. And no, it is in no way beneficial to turn them off, it is the opposite of beneficial.
