Hey guys,

I'm trying to build a new pc for myself. I need to make sure it was all compatible and even though I've built my past one, it can't hurt to double check on compatibility and hear other peoples thoughts. my budget is around $1, 500. I just wanna be sure my pc can handle new release games and such. Also prefer to make PCs over upgrading them.

Here's my setup Idea so far: (revised)

Case:
Antec 300
-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Note: I realized that my whole entertainment system, tv, reciever, ect. are black with blue lights so I like the idea of it all matching but other than that, no preference.

Hard drive:
Seagate Barracuda 1tb
-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Notes: I've Thought about SSD but I Don't really mind loading screens that much.

Video Card:
Gtx 980
-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Notes: I haven't gotten into overclocking yet. prob wont be for a while.

PSU:
SeaSonic 620
-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Note: love that everything is detachable

Memory:
G. Skill Ripjaw 8GB (2 X 4GB)

Motherboard:
ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO LGA 1550
-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Processor:
Intel Core i5-4690k Devil's Canyon Quad-core
-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

OS:
-win 8.1
-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Notes: I figured might as well go for 8.1 my old one was win 7

Others:

keyboard and Mouse:

Wifi Adapter:
Notes: Had one before works fine since I have no hookup where I'm placing it.

Dvd Drive:
Notes: Wasn't sure if dvd burner is just considered a normal cd drive.

CPU Cooler:
-Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I would like some advice and the build. Is it Compatible? Would it even work for high-end gaming? Thoughts on Win 8.1? Anything.

This is a great build and everything is compatible. You should be able to handle all games that are coming out. One minor suggestion I would make is that you get the WD Caviar Blue hdd instead of the barracuda, but the choice is yours. I personally do NOT like Windows 8.1, but it is your preference, and I have not used Windows 8 on a non-touchscreen device so don't listen to me on that!

Yes, I believe so. The 980 will handle games on ultra, and is the best Nvidia Gpu in the market, except for Titans and a few other cards. But, if u get it, then I believe you will not have to upgrade for a long time.

Everything should work together ... my couple of suggestions would be:

- You do not need a 750W power supply unless you are planning on using two of those graphics cards in SLI. 600W would be more than enough. That Corsair HX model is also more expensive than it needs to be, mainly because it says Corsair on the side, but it is not their top-tier model. May I suggest something like this if you are only going with one card:

or maybe one of these if two cards might be something you do:

- If cost is a concern, that's a nice case, but you can still get a good-looking one for half that. The Antec 300 is one of my favorite of all time for being both cheap, having good ventilation and being super easy to work with (they also have a slightly more expensive illuminated version if plain black is not your thing):

- It wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a CPU cooler. You've got a K processor, so overclocking is really not rocket science as long as you can keep it cool, and kind of a waste of money if you don't do it at all. Plus I'm not sure how Intel's stock CPU fans are these days, but in the not very distant past they were crap and I would've recommended replacing it anyway.
