Afternoon all,

I have recently noticed that my internet connection is running 1/2 of what it usually runs when running wireless.

I have connected directly to the modem and it runs at the advertised 25Mbps. I have tested this on several devices, including my android phone, and it is maxing out at 10Mbps across all devices. I've had the connection for about three months and have tested download speeds extensively shortly after getting it and it ran 25Mbps regularly. I noticed some lag the other day went to speedtest.net to check and that's when I noticed it.

The distance from the wireless router shouldn't be the issue and as far as I know, I have not changed anything recently but clearly something has changed!

Here's my info:

Comcast - 25Mbps

Router - TL-WR1043ND v2 - Running latest firmware from TPLINK

Modem - Motorola SB6121

I have reset the router to factory defaults already and no improvement. I don't have another router to test with unfortunately.

Any advice or suggestions would be welcomed! Thanks in advance

Possibly change the channel the wireless router is running on. A lot of times if you're in a dense wireless area like a dorm or apartment complex, you're crossing channels because everyone leaves their wireless router on the default channel. It can hose things a bit.

I've run through all the channels. All of them get the same - about 10Mbps. Thanks for the suggestion!! I appreciate it.

You will always get greater speeds from wired over wireless, wired is far more superior to wired, Invest in powerline adapters

And if you check the connection status, next to Speed, is it showing a proper 300Mbit connection or is it much lower? Obviously the issue is just with the wireless connection, so it might come down to the wireless router just going pfffbbbtt and deciding not to work anymore. If you never changed any settings to begin with and it just took a crap, that's what I'd look at.

Yes, I am aware that wired connections are superior to wireless connections. Thanks for stating that. What I am saying is that a couple weeks ago, it was running 25 Mbps. Today, it is not. I am about 13 feet away from the router. I am getting anywhere from 100 - 144 Mbps on the connection status.

I have read that there are issues with Comcast and their DCPS settings. I was hoping that was it and not a brand new router!
