Good PC build for gaming

Hey guys so I'm going to build a PC and I need to know if this is a good PC build for gaming(skyrim,gta 4, titanfall, crisis 2&3)

Case:
NZXT Crafted Series G921RB Mid Tower PC case

Motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-Z97M-DS3H Micro-ATX Motherboard

CPU:
Intel i5 4690k

GPU:
XFX(I want this particular brand) Radeon r9 280x 3gb

PSU:
Thermaltake 650 watt

Hard Drive/SSD
1tb WD HDD and I will eventually get a 500gb samsung 840 evo

RAM:
8gb(2x4) corsair vengeance @ 1866mgz

OS:
Windows 8.1(not the pro version)

Asus x24 DVD drive

So is this a good PC and also will the XFX r9 280x fit inside that case

But I think I'll need the i5 4690k for rendering graphics in maya and blender and my parents are buying me the GPU and I'm buying the rest but I changed my mind on the case I decided to go with the Raidmax Viper GX instead. Can you explain to me why I should go with a better gpu and a lower CPU because I'm not a expert at pcs and I want to know why

i5 4590 is fast enough . For games the GPU is of great importance .
