Hello everyone,

I bought a new desktop and here are the specs:

I am not a computer person, but I will try to list the important things.

Windows 8.1
Intel i5 4440 CPU 3.1ghz (4CPUs)
8192mb ram
Page file: 4012mb used 6038mb available
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (192 bit)
7058mb

So What is making my sim 3 still lag? I have no mods. Thank you.

Sims 3 stutters a lot regardless of the computer. For example, if I put my Sim in a cab and watched it drive the screen was constantly jerky. Just horrible.

My system:
i7-3770K,
GTX680

I did EXTENSIVE testing on different computers, disabled Hyperthreading, tried one, two , three cores etc.

The smoothest I got was to use the HALF ADAPTIVE VSYNC method so it synchs at 30FPS in NVidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D settings->... For some reason it didn't stutter quite as much as at 60FPS.

I finally gave up as I couldn't stand the stuttering. At max settings I could get well over 200FPS with VSYNC OFF so it's not a performance issue. There's a fundamental problem with the game code which has NEVER been fixed.

Thank you for the answers!

I deleted my temps just now, there were a lot of files. Also I don't know how to find my psu, where can I find that?

And I am thinking the same thing, the sims 3 seems to stutter no matter how good the computer is. Thanks, I will try the half adaptive vysnc.

I think he meant TEMPERATURE as in make sure your CPU or graphics card aren't overheating.

However, that won't be your problem. Your frame rate if you look at FRAPS is going to be way over 100FPS on your system even on maximum quality (without VSYNC).

I forget if Sims 3 has VSYNC or if I had to force it on.... pretty sure I had to force it.

If you play the game then exit, when you go into "Manage 3D Settings" in NVidia Control Panel you can click "ADD" and see the proper Sims 3 exe to use. Add that, then you can adjust the VSYNC options.

Sims 3 isn't too bad when I'm staying mainly in the same spot which is most of the time, it's mainly when i'm travelling places I find it really annoying.
