I screwed up my sound, I think and can't figure out how to fix it.

The power went out and after it came back on my computer went in a disk check mode after a start up I didn't notice until it was already going. Anyways it probably didn't it was just taking a long time on that file, but at that time for whatever reason I thought if froze, so I powered off the system. Ever since this happened I have had no sound. I saw some guy say he got his sound to work with uninstalling the sound drivers and then doing a hardware scan and when the new drivers installed he had sound again. I foolishly tried this and not only did it not work I do not have all the drivers I once had before. I tried to download all the drivers for the realtek onboard sound, but I get a
0x80040708 and a 0x80004005 errors and it won't let the installation complete. I didn't notice this until later because someone mentioned it, that the onboard sound was disabled which I changed, but with removing the drivers I don't think it mattered.

I also can't do a system restore to earlier point because of one of the error code 0x80042302. (A volume shadow copy service component encountered an unexpected error.) I do not have a system restore cd.

I run windows 7 32 bit, and here is my motherboard if at all relevant. I would really appreciate any help. When trying to run audio playback to detect errors I get the following message; an unexpected error has occured. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue.

I couldn't use system restore from the control panel, luckily I was able to do it from the repair disc. Thank god, I'm on the computer a lot and couldn't handle being on one with out sound. Glad this solved the issue because I don't have the software to reinstall windows.
