Is DLLHOST a Virus?

DLLHost.exe keeps coming up in my task manager using a ton of RAM and just keeps taking up more and more, I looked it up and other people have had the same problems but I couldn't find a way to fix it. I have ran Malwarebytes and Avast multiple times, ended the process over and over, and used CCleaner to clean my computer and registry but DLLHost has come back once again. Can anybody help figure out what to do? People say it isn't even a virus so I'm a little confused on how I'm supposed to solve this.

I have 8gb of ram, it'll start at a normal small amount of ram but will quickly rise past 3,000,000 K

well for now I went found update "KB2670838" uninstalled it and changed my settings to ask to update

we'll see if that works

I have seen where a corrupt media file could be the culprit. Try looking here - http://www.engineeredentropy.com/2013/03/dllhost-exe-high-processor-usage/

Possible solutions:

"...go to Organize/Folder and search options, then to View, then i have to check the first one: Always show icons, never thumbnails, then to uncheck: Display file icon on thumbnails." - Source: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f210/solved-dllhost-exe-high-cpu-usage-695950.html
This one has several pages to sort through for a possible solution - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/why-does-dllhostexe-com-surrogate-consumes-memory/bd7e42bb-802d-4eb9-95b2-2bb6b566996d?page=1

Avoid using a registry cleaner as it may do more harm than good.

uninstalling the "KB2670838" has seemed to work if it comes back I'll check out your solution though

So yes the solution (at least I think) is to go to the uninstall updates section of the control panel and uninstall KB2670838
