I recently just built a new PC and have been having crashes while playing games. The crashes are usually started with a black screen and a sound loop and then the screen will change to a solid colour and I will have to manually reboot it.
I have messed with a bunch of different things so far and I have found that when I connect my DVI cable to my motherboard I don't get these crashes. I have looked many places and most people blame it on the power supply which I believe isn't the problem.
My specs are:

CPU: i5-4670k
Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S
Motherboard:Gigabyte LGA 1150
Video Card: Nvidia GTX 770
Power Supply: Seasonic M12 850W ATX 12V
Case: Corsair 200R carbide series

Are you overclocking any items in your computer (CPU, RAM and/or GPU)?

What are your temps for CPU & GPU when gaming?

Do you have the most current drivers from Nvidia?

I would seriously doubt it is your PSU.....

If you connect the cable to your motherboard, that means you aren't using the graphics card. You're using the integrated graphics in the CPU.

If you plug the cable into your graphics card and it doesn't work then there's a fair chance your graphics card is bung. Try another graphics card. Try yours in another PC.
