Is this sub $600 build good

Solution

for gaming then get an oem copy of win 7 or 8 with your pc build. You can game on linux, but its a pain if the games do not natively support linux, and not all games will work.

reduce your machine budget and get a legit copy of windows 7 or 8. You could get any of the free linux distro's, but they require a lot more time/patience/knowhow to get working properly, and can have hardware incompatabilities. What do you need the PC for exactly? and do you need everything like monitor, keyboard, mouse included in the build?

< just a shade over $500 including the OS. you could go a faster cpu and/or video card if you can hand over a bit more money
