Hello so I just built my gaming pc and I'm concerned about the idle temps my i5 4690k is getting.
Here are my results note I'm using a msi gaming 5 motherboard so I used the over clock genie as my over clock
With no over clock and the hyper 212 evo on high I get around 42 degrees C
With no over clock and the fans on low I get 43-44 degrees C
With a over clock (3.9ghz) and hyper evo 212 fans on low 50-53 degrees C
With a over clock (3.9ghz) and the hyper evo 212 fans on high 49-50 degrees C
So what do you all think are these normal idle temps? A couple other things to note I'm not sure if they play a factor I don't have a OS yet. Windows 7 is on it's way though.. :D  and I got these temps from the msi bios in the "hardware monitor" tab. up at the top on the home page there is another cpu temp monitor but it was about 10 degrees cooler than the temps I saw in the "hardware monitor" section. Not sure which is correct.. Please help!
My build specs are here: http://pcpartpicker.com/b/tKXH99
Ok So the bios say that i am getting 37-39 degrees C at idle I this normal or is it hot? if it's hot what should I do?

HWMonitor is a very poor piece of software go by your BIOS.

Any automatic overclocks are garbage. At least that has been my personal experience. They are usually too unstable. Recheck your Your cpu cooler. Make sure you put enough TIM or
thermal paste on it and reseat the cooler to make sure it is attached correctly.

Those tempos are a little high.

Overclocking software is poor at best , should be done from the BIOS only.

So what about the idle temps? Are they high?

Not necessarily.
I have an i7-3770K@4.1GHz (using XMP profile), and a Noctua NH-D14 cooler with fans on low and right now Core Temp has my hottest core at 41degC.

Room temp is 20degC.

It's hard to say exactly as it's uncertain how you overclocked (try XMP in the BIOS), don't know your room temp, how well your case cools etc so lot of room for variation.

The CPU doesn't throttle until about 100degC either. My favorite cooler is the Noctua NH-U12S or U14S for the Haswell CPU's as they're very quiet with proper fan control and cool sufficiently.

My dad was converting a video with his i5-4670K running at 100% and the NH-U12S is the only fan spinning aside from the power supply and I can barely hear it in a quiet room.

I heard that that is a really good cooler but I have 0 dollars right now lol. Saved up for this for forever couldn't go much more expensive than the hyper evo 212 and I want to upgrade somethings as it is so money is tight. My room temp is 74 degrees F. As for the case it is more restricted on airflow than others but really it's not bad at all the case is about 30 degrees C. I really don't know what to do right now i feel like it should be much cooler.
