So I have a ISP and was using a modem /router combo that was rented from Comcast through my wireless adapter. Eventually I started having problems with the DNS (your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the divice or resource (DNS server) is not responding. It kept me from accessing the internet even though it seems I have full bars. I looked on the internet (different device) for any way to solve my problem and found none that lasted more then a few minutes. Eventually I called Comcast and after they failed to solve my problems I over the phone they sent someone in who also failed to solve the problem. So I'm still without internet on this single device and have decided to get a modem and make a wired connection using my modem. Going to use the ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141. What do I need to do to have a proper setup? I have the ISP (on that note I'm going to switch to Verizon soon) the modem, I have a Ethernet cable . Anything else I need. Anything I'm missing? Thanks!

TL;DR: had problems with my DNS , switching to a modem based Ethernet connection, need help setting it up.

The modem from my isp isn't working correctly and giving me DNS server problems. I want to replace use of that modem with a different modem, presumably that should solve my DNS problem and give me a Ethernet connection that ove been wanting anyways on my computer that's been giving me problems. I'm not sure what a server DNS is so I doubt I have it.
