Hi guys,

My issue:
CPU seems stable OC'd to 4.5GHZ a 1.45v (all options off, LLC on medium) however starts to throttle the GHZ down to 1.0GHZ for a second or so when temps get above 57*C?
Here is my spec:

AMD FX-8120
Gigabyte GA990FXA-UD3 rev 4
8GB DDR3 1600
7850 2GB DDR5 GFX card
H100 water cooler

Driving me nuts! can anyone help?

The maximum operating temp for your CPU is 61°C so the throttling by the CPU is to protect itself from heat damage. IMO, you have a few options, improve your heatsink* on the CPU, reduce your voltage(s) and/or reduce overclock. I will not advocate maintaining your current clocks and temps here

* you may be able to reduce temps a tiny bit simply by changing thermal compound

Actually I meant from a re-application of thermal compound, not necessarily changing to a different brand

Re applying paste may help. I say get a small 80mm fan or so to sit directly above the VRMs. And or one behind the socket. Do you have proper cable management and case airflow?
