Well just got back this afternoon with a bag full of goodies to upgrade my rig. I've been a moderate tweaker and overclocker on and off for about 15 yrs

I've been out of the game for about the last 4yrs and will be assembling my new rig in the next couple of days. After doing some research in this and other forums and watching some reviews on youtube I think I'm on the right path

BUT...I wanted to get some feedback specifically on my ram of choice. If it doesn't show in my sig the following is a list of my intended new system:

BOX AMD FX-8320 BLACK ED
COOLMAST HYPER 212 EVO
ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0
DIRECTCU/2DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-Bit GDDR5
8gig CORSAIR VENGENCE DDR1600 (PC3 12800)
CoolerMaster GX-750 PSU
CRUCIAL 512GB 2.5 MX100 SSD
Antec case

In addition to the Corsair vengence above I was also considering GSkill ripjaws 8gig ddr3 1600 but wasn't sure EXACTLY which module numbers to consider.

I'm not looking to do an EXTREME OC but as always I'm looking to maximize and get the best stable performance. Pardon me for being so long winded...is been awhile .

Solution
Don't mix the modules , go with the Snipers or Ripjaws.

Hey BB,

viewing one of your posts was is a big reason I decided to go with the 8320 so I do appreciate you opinion and expertise. In fact when I originally put my new rig together on pcpartspicker I had included the gskill ripjaws ram. Now I'm not absolutely sure why I finally went with the Corsair vengence. Perhaps it was information overload :)

I would appreciate it if you could reply with a link or a number of the EXACT ripjaws modules you're referring to and also your opinion of the Corsair vengence dimms in my OP. Look forward to pumping you for info. Wait...that didn't come out right. Oh look...a puppy!

thanks for the reply. How much will I significantly benefit from an additional 8gigs of ram?

I forgot to mention when I put this rig together I really had a max budget of $500. I ended up getting everything for right @ $600 including about $30 worth of MIR's. Quite a solid bang for my bucks! I think I'll have pretty darn nice rig even with using my old GPU, PSU, and case. They will be upgraded around x-mas time (my b-day btw)

I noticed 2 things about the Sniper and Ripjaws ram that you linked. 1 is cas8 and 1 is cas9. Also both have very few reviews (only 7 for each) which makes me hesitant b\c I like to see way more opinions on a component

Its really not a big deal, is true that the lower the better, and since they're priced the same i'd go with the ripjaws.
