Assuming that the user has the latest drivers and Bios for all the hardware, its typically going to true that the cards will be compatible. The other thing is that, assuming the Sony Vaio model you quoted is the one you plan on upgrading, that actually uses PCIe 1.1 slots, which 3.0 card will work in. Upvote 0 Downvote
