I wrote the .iso files to a PNY Attache 8GB USB 2.0 and selected USB Flash Drive as the first device to boot up in the BIOS. However, when I started my computer up nothing changed. I checked the BIOS again to make sure that the settings were applied and they were.

What am I doing wrong?

Try UNetBootIn to create bootable USB out of ISO.

None of these changed anything. Also, I want to make this a full linux laptop. Not boot windows and then boot linux.

IN the BISO boot menu can you see if the USB drive is listed under hardrrives and not USB devices? IF these doesnt work maybe try to boot from a DVD,

I guess a DVD is my last option. There's no way to specify the hard drive that boots.
