my parts just came in for my pc and i started on building it, i assembled the motherboard, memory, CPU, and graphics card all to the power supply, all on the outside of the computer case just to test to see if it all works before putting it all inside the case, and connected the graphics card to the monitor, and when i turn it on, the power and all of the fans turn on but nothing shows up on the monitor.

i thought that the monitor would show a flash of the brand of the motherboard and then go to black, just so i would be sure that all of my parts are working, but my monitor just stays on the same blue screen that its on when i turn the monitor on

i find it odd that all of the power and fans are on, but nothing on the monitor

Try connecting to the video outputs on the motherboard. Some motherboards default to integrated graphics out of the factory and have to be set to use a discrete card instead.

No, you are not using the graphics card currently. What you need to do is hit a button at boot to get into the BIOS. There you should be able to adjust an option for which graphics the system prefers, and set it to GPU or discrete or whatever that isn't integrated. After that, you should have to move your cable back over to the GPU and then you can start rolling.

That would strongly suggest your GPU isn't working for some reason. Unfortunately, this generally leads to replacing said GPU.

If you have a known good GPU, you can test it to verify it isn't a motherboard issue. Alternatively, if you have a known working motherboard, you can test the GPU there to see if it is the new motherboard. As for the new motherboard, you will probably have to either use reset jumpers or pull the CMOS battery to get the settings to reset to default to use the integrated again.
