Random and short disconnects/reconnects

Hey guys,

I have a custom-built desktop that runs with a TRENDnet TEW-643PI wireless card. I can't do a direct connection as the router is on the other side of the duplex. I have very little issues with latency/lag and the internet is super fast 99% of the time. But, ever so often (3-4 times a day roughly) I get a disconnect that last about 3 seconds before it reconnects. I typically notice it the most when I'm raiding or in a battleground in WoW (if that helps diagnose the issue). I recently bought a signal extending antenna for the card and consistently have 100% signal strength. My laptop, as well as my wife's laptop, never have a disconnect issue so I doubt it's the ISP.

One thing that I've looked at is the fact that I have 3 adapters listed under my "Network Adapters" under device manager: (I apologize for the noobishness of this question but I don't know what these three are)
- Intel(R) Gigabit network Connection
- Microsoft virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
- Realtek 802.11n Wireless LAN (Mini-) PCI NIC

Is there a chance that they are conflicting with each other?

Let me know what other additional info I can scoop up for y'all and thanks in advance for your help.

The Intel Gigabit network connection is your on-board Network Card. The Realtek wireless LAN card is your wireless card.

The Microsoft virtual wifi miniport is a new feature in windows 7, that basically allows you to virtualize your network connection (can do some pretty cool stuff with it). They will not conflict with each other, but for peace of mind you can disable them :).

Are you positive your laptops never disconnect? a 3 second disconnect is hardly noticeable unless your in the middle of a raid lol.

I would start by testing the other laptops to make 100% sure they NEVER drop connectivity.

If its the case that its only your PC that disconnecting, then we can start troubleshooting your PC by itself.

Thank's Shiner for the quick response.

I'm almost 100% sure that my laptop, nor my wife's laptop, doesn't disconnect. My wife watches netflix in the evenings and never gets the disconnects I get at the same time while I'm raiding/etc. I've also had my laptop open when my PC disconnects just to make sure that my laptop has connection still (which it does). So I would assume it's an issue with my pc. (my wife and I's laptops are Macs if that makes a difference)

When my PC drops I not only lose connection to my home network but it is almost as if the entire card shuts off as I do not see any options for the other network connections. I did try opening my TRENDNet "Wireless N Client Utility" panel and noticed that I didn't have my home network added to my "profile" so I went ahead and added it to my network list... to see if that, perhaps, made a difference. I built the desktop myself so there is a high chance that I goofed something :)
