In my opinion, those parts will do great in gaming. A 4770k with a 970 GTX is a solid combo.

Get faster RAM, lose the sound card unless you really want it, and try to add an ssd in there.
The rest looks good.

reasons, i5 wont lower gaming performance but saves money to add toward other things. Higher quality psu, i never skimp there. Faster ram (i just cant have a fast system with slower ram, i just cant...). Some fans for your case, the case you chose is good but only comes with one fan. Watercooling for the cpu so you can OC (this case wont fit big air cooler like hyper212 but will fit this small water cooler).
