I recently got an old CPU from a friend of mine ( Intel core 2 quad 8200) who upgraded his PC. After checking the compatibility with my MB (P5Q Deluxe) I decided to insert it (my old CPU was an Intel Core 2 Duo 6600). Everything run fine for about 5 minutes and after that I got BSOD. This happened several times and I decided to insert my old CPU back. Now everything runs fine but any program that has to do with video chatting( ex Skype,Curse Voice even Rocksmith) crashes. I checked my Hard Drive for errors but it doesn't seem to find something. I also run DirectX diagnostic tool which indicated that DirectShow could not be openned. What should I do?
Thanks in advance

Are you cleaning off and then applying new thermal paste with each of these swaps?

Yeah. Does it have to do something with the errors i'm getting?

Just trying to eliminate stuff - a lot of people don't replace the thermal paste, and then overheating causes crashes and other problems. It doesn't fit all your symptoms above, but it fits some, so I wanted to check.

A BSOD is usually a driver problem, try with a fresh windows install.

Ok I will try that sometime, my main concern is that I can't use skype or any other video chatting program now that I have my old CPU inserted( which didn't present any problem before I removed it to put the new one). Maybe from the constant BSOD something was damaged and I need to know what.

Your cpu is not damaged, something must be corrupted, make a backup of your important files and perform a clean windows install.

So there won't be any problem if I reinsert the quad core and then install windows?

It worked but it turns out the CPU was damaged because even after the new windows install it still crashed and gave me BSOD
