How can I find my lost documents after factory reset?

I did a factory reset on a windows 7 HP laptop. The process asked me if I wanted a backup of files. I clicked yes - it didn't do it. I've tried a system restore to a date before the reset, but no files have been restored. Any thoughts? Thanks David

Where all are you looking for them? I'm not sure with HP, but they should be somewhere like:

C:\System Recovery Files\ -or- C:\Recovery Files\ -or- C\backup\

Something like that... or maybe on a separate partition? Open Computer and see if any any other drives appear beside your C: drive
