hi guys,

i'll keep this to the chase:
-i recently bought a new monitor - dell U2414h. it has Displayport1.2, miniDP, 2xHDMI ports.
-my graphics card is a 6 yr old MSI radeon hd4670 with two DVI connectors.

my problem is i can't connect my pc to my monitor. i tried an adapter cable from a dvi cable to a miniDP and a DP and no signal.

does anyone know a way to connect DVI to Displayport or HDMI?
i was told of active and passive adapters. i really don't know much about this subject.

isn't this just rewiring? no actual digital alteration of the signal will this still work?

no. it is a digital signal. I've used one of these before. It worked.

the dvi-d output on your gPu is digital. no conversion happening. just different interfaces, one with more bandwidth than the other
