have just completed the build and the machine will not Post, there is power to the motherboard as all lights are on and all fans are working but the ram got very hot, also the keyboard and monitor are not working, all parts attached to motherboard have been swapped out and work fine on another system, it all seems to lead back to the Motherboard, have rechecked all wiring and cpu pins and all seem ok, this is the second motherboard of the same make and model as the first one did not work either. The motherboard is an Asus Maximus VII Formula, as this is the flagship of the range I would not expect to get 2 damaged boards one after the other.
The items that are attached to the motherboard are:
Coolermaster Cosmos II ultra case.
i7-4790k LGA 1150 processor.
2x8GB G Skill TX 2400Mhz ram.
Corsair H100i liquid cpu cooler.
Zotac 580 GPU.
Samsung 512GB 840 Pro SSD.
Corsair AX1200 PSU.
Board fault (Q) codes are reading 00, I am apprehensive about replacing this board for the 3rd time with the same make and model, please help as I seem to be stuck in a loop.

Minimize the POST requirements. Disconnect everything from the board except, the CPU. Wtih the RAM removed, and if you turn it on, does it beep, or give a different indicator of POST behavior?

Then try it with the video card (if you have one) and RAM (1 stick in the correct slot) to see if you get anything on the screen.

I am with you that the exact same thing is happening on two boards is very unlikely, but it is possible.

Thank you saywhut for your quick response, have now tried with just CPU and still no response, have now decided to return it to the retailer for a refund. May try this motherboard one more time as other users and reviewers have never mentioned problems, may just be bad luck on my part, once again many thanks for your reply,

You have a Haswell mobo paired up with a new, Devil's Canyon CPU. It may be that the mobo's BIOS version does not support Devil's Canyon.

Have you checked to see what BIOS version your mobo has, and if it supports Devil's Canyon CPUs?

If you need to update the BIOS, you may need a CPU that is pre-Haswell Refresh in order to flash the BIOS. In other words, you most likely cannot flash the BIOS to a newer version with a new, Devil's Canyon CPU.

Check the Asus website very closely for the CPUs that your current BIOS supports, and which BIOS versions are required for your mobo to work with Devil's Canyon.

Hi Yogi, Thank you for your reply, however this mobo has a BIOS flashback facility that allows you to download the latest BIOS update from Asus to a memory stick and update the BIOS without having to enter the BIOS or operating system, all you need is power to the mobo, tried that still nothing, I have now sent the mobo back to retailer and ordered another, once again many thanks.
