Hi,
I run a media center PC that I use for gaming in my living room. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out which is the quietest GPU.

The ASUS seems to be a good choice, but some reviews show it having up to 39DBa at load.

Anyone have any experience with this? My current card - Sapphire 7970 - is around 41DBa.

MSI 970 is said to be the quietest by most reviews, full points there :)

I have not seen that. Do you have a review I can look at?

The ASUS GTX 970 STRIX fans turn off when the GPU is under 65°C. Either that, MSI TwinFrozr V, or EVGA ACX 2.0 are good picks for quiet GPUs.

This review terms it as silent:

This review terms it as solid, and it sits below your current GPU noise wise:

This review says its lessy noisy than others:

Msi & Asus are both silent under 65C, after that the MSI is only slightly quieter.

I see. So the MSI is a good option too? I'd consider giving it that brand another shot.

Ya, it's the highest rated 970 as yet and I just ordered one for myself.

^ ;P
I had the choice of getting the ASUS Strix instead, decided to stick with the MSI in the end. :)

What case are you using?
Media center cases are often small with not so much cooling.

I suspect that a GTX970 with a blower type cooler would suit you best. It may be louder in an open test bed, but in a case, it will get the hot air out quicker.
The fan type coolers may cool better and be quieter in an open test bed, but in a case, you need good case cooling to deal with the heat that is dumped into the case.

The MSI seems like a good option. I read up some reviews where it performs well and is still quiet.

The Media Center PC is a Fractal Design R4 case. It is a large case... not your typical media center case.
