This is my first post so bear with me. First of all, I'm quite new to PC building, I had a friend help build my current one. But alas, the GPUs have died. I was wondering if I need to do any upgrading to run the GTX 980. Thanks for the help.

    - CPU: Intel Core i7-3770
    - RAM: HyperX 16 GB
    - Motherboard: No idea, fine with getting a new one
    - PSU: Corsair AX850

CPU and PSU are great, no issues there. If your MoBo is supporting an i7 w/o issues, it'd definately support GTX 980 unless its an extremely cheap one.

It can support the 980 and there will be no bottleneck.
For the MoBo,if you wanna buy a new one,ASUS or Gigabyte Z77 boards are the way to go.

Which ASUS mobo would you recommend?

Your board will me fine anyway, if it has a PCI-E lane which is x16 you are good to go, waste of money for anything else, no point in a z77 board because your i7 isn't a unlocked K model, so the Z77 options are wasted.
