Hi guys,

So I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to networking, but basically, my dad has been using a Belkin bridge for his PC for a while now, with the router in another room, and it was working fine until he added a password to the router as the bridge doesn't support the password type on the router (WPA i think). He doesn't want to remove the password again, but has a spare router, a Netgear WGR614v9, that he's given me the task of trying to set up as a bridge. Is there a way to do this? Even if it means using non-official firmware, I don't mind too much as this router is unused anyway (other than for this)

Thanks

I would get a cheap USB wireless adapter it is much simpler.

You to a point are lucky and that netgear supports running in repeater mode. You can try to set the fields in the wireless repeater and see what happens. This is a very old router they still had not fully figured out how to get WDS and WPA/WPA2 security to work.

Yeah I noticed that. I had to flash some netgear firmware onto it to even get the wireless repeater settings menu (Thanks virgin media...), This thing only supports repeater mode with WEP security, so I'll have to check what security my dads router uses when I get back home this weekend.
