Hello,
I've purchased a new hard drive after a crash on my wife's computer.
I have my XP disk, [I know - time to upgrade but not right now], and I recall seeing different options on it, including Recovery, etc.
It loads the files ok, but it hangs up when it gets to 'Set Up Is Starting Windows'.
Then after a while, a blue screen with an error message comes up.
I'm thinking that the new drive should be Formatted, which I've done before on my bigger computer when doing it's drives.
Problem is - I don't see an option to do that on this one.
I have an avast recovery disk, but that was of little help.
I could get into DOS, but there was no option in the 'HELP' list to 'LIST DISK', or 'SELECT DISK', 'FORMAT', etc.
So what to do? I suppose I could format it using my other computer, but then it won't be C:\ drive.
Plus that's a real hassle to move & open it now.
So any suggestions?
Thank you for reading this far and considering to help.
Jim
