My current guess is that the water pump failed in my cooler (Thermaltake water 2.0 pro) but I'm not sure if that's the cause or not. Also I have no other coolers to test this at the moment (used to own an aftermarket air cooled one so I tossed factory cooler... Then I sold that one to a friend after I got this thermaltake.) :pfff:

Setting everything to default profile (no o.c. on cpu etc...) it still overheats usually in about 1 minute. So how can I tell if the pump stopped working on my water cooler? It's about a year and a half old on my cooler to and the radiator doesn't feel hot when I touch it after my computer turns off. Anyways would be nice to hear if others think it's the cooler or not before I buy a new one... I'll be going to go back to air cooled after this fiasco if it is my cooler. Atleast then I won't have to worry about a pump dying and I'll know it's working when I see the fans on the air cooled cooler spinning.

My Build:
Processor: Intel I7-950 (normally oc @ 3.45ghz)
RAM: 24GB
MB: P6X58-D Premium
Cooler: ThermalTake Water 2.0 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus GTX 670
Hard Drive(s): SSD 60gb & 3TB HD
Case: CM Storm Scout

put your hand on top of the pump, if you cant feel a slight vibration then the pump is done for. From the sounds of it only being able to boot for 1min before overheating makes me think very hard that the pump has died

A failed pump is a likely possibility.
You can make a stethoscope out of a rolled up paper tube.
Use it to listen to the pump to hear if it seems to be working.
Can you hear liquid circulating anywhere?

Can you verify that the pump has not come loose from the cpu die?

Yup, pump died. Now to hope this RMA works out (apparently waterpro 2.0 series has 3 year warranty instead of the usual 1 year) on my WaterPro 2.0 cooler :pt1cable: . I put a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO in and my desktop is working good again. I'm probably going to sell my replacement/fixed cooler once the RMA is done since I don't want this happening again.
