4gb ram installed and 3gb ram showing

i recently buy 2gb ddr2 to increase my gaming performances, and i got 2gb ddr2 installed on my computer so total is 4gb , but when install it , only 3gb ram showing how to fix this? anyone can help me?

It sound like your OS is 32 bits ... You can check with right click in "My PC" icon and select properties

What os? Is it 32bit or 64-bit? Are you using an integrated video card?

In cpu-z what does it show under the graphics tab?

Try the new ram stick by itself and see how much ram windows recognizes.

i tried it , same 2gb and i try switching them lol. i also tried memory diagnostic nothing happens

Click start and in the search field type msconfig and press enter this will open the system config utility. click the boot tab then the advanced options button, make sure max memory is unchecked, if it is checked uncheck it.

Could be a compatibility issue, problem can happen when mixing different speeds of ram.
