I don't overclock anything and I have always used intel motherboards for stability. Now that intel has stopped making motherboards I don't know what brand motherboard to look at. Stability is the biggest thing for me. I don't want my system crashing all the time. The new build I'm thinking about will have a intel i7 4790k with z97 chipset. I want 32 gigs of ram. I'll have a SSD and at least 2 other harddrives and 1 dvd burner. I'm not sure on GPU yet. This will be a 4 monitor setup that is used mainly for photo editing. (photoshop and lightroom). I will use my existing cosmos S case.

What motherboard brands are good to look at and what ones should I stay away from?

Solution
Almost all major brands are good choices, it comes to your personal preference. I like ASUS because their reputation. If you don't overclock, you don't need a Z97, a H97 will be enough.

I'm currently using ASUS Z97 m-plus. I like it. I'm assuming you will be fine with H97 m-plus

Not so, you CAN OC on K CPUs and Z MoBos, even if you don't want to do it right now, but may want to try your hand in the future, there's no compulsion to go with H MoBos. Besides, H MoBos will only allow SLI or CF in x4, and you'd want atleast x8 for high end cards, which is present only in Z MoBos.
