So I have a Corsair H100i cooling my system.

It is the third Corsair cooler I have,
First I had the Corsair H100 for a year. It started rattling and making noise, so I contacted support and had to RMA the product.
Within a week I got a Corsair H100i. Not sure why, maybe they made a mistake, maybe the regular H100 was out of stock?
Anyway, I had the H100i for a year, when I found out that the rubber around the fittings was showing cracks. I was affraid of leakage, so I contacted support, and had to RMA again. The product was out of stock, so it took a little over 2 weeks to get a new Corsair H100i

Now this new H100i which I got last week, is already a faillure. It came with outdated firmware, which isn't supported in their newest software (the cooler is software controlled). I had to install an old software version, to update the firmware. So when I installed the old software, a "Update firmware" window popped up on first start. Me being unpatient instantly accepted to install new firmware. Seems that the software needs some time to start up, before it can clearly update firmware. Because the firmware update failed. Since then the firmware is broken, and Windows does no longer recognize it as a full device. Something with Device Descriptor failed.
Problem: Device is uncontrollable, only runs at 1 regular speed mode, giving high temperatures.

Of course I contacted support, and it seems I have to RMA, AGAIN.

Now as you might understand, I'm really satisfied with their support. But I'm getting really sick of their product.

So I was thinking about replacing the H100i with another cooler, while I RMA it, and sell the new one I get back. But what would be a good alternative?
I have thought about custom loop, but if I'm building a custom loop, I want to include my 2 GPU's as well (maybe not at first, but at least in a while). This will result in a pretty expensive loop.

I will say get a noctua d15 and avoid the liquid cooling.

Air cooler are reliable and doesn't break down like the liquid plus the risk of leakage is also not there with the air cooler and noctua d15 can cool the processor better than h100i at low noise.

Give CoolerMaster Nepton 280L a try. If 280 won't work with your case, try the Seidon 240
