A link to the exact kit you purchased would help here, am I accurate in assuming you are attempting to add another 8 GB to the already existing 8 GB that came with the computer (for a total of 16GB)?

Hi,

If you go in specs, it support a max of 12 Gb ram while if you add 8 Gb to the 8 gb there, it goes up to 16 gb...
Also you have to be sure that the memory has the same speed, timing and voltage.

Ram comes in 1,2,4,8 GB modules, no way the max will be a mixed set. According to Asus here (a much better source than BB ads IMO) http://www.asus.com/us/Desktops/M11BB/specifications/ it supports 16GB max

Your best bet when attempting to add ram to an existing system is to use one of the ram manufacturer's Memory Locator Tools (almost all major ram manufacturers offer that feature) which will find guaranteed compatible memory for your machine. Examples
