Hello fellas,

I've have recently bought a second hand desktop and it has been running great. I can play League of Legends with max settings @ 60 FPS. However, if I attempt to live stream, my fps drops by a good amount, making the game quite laggy. I've noticed that it drops a lot more if I decide to turn my webcam on. Anyhow, any advice on which CPU I could upgrade to would be greatly appreciated it.

These are the specs of the computer:
-black Antec P180 case
-Mobo: EVGA 132-CK-NF78 2 780i
-Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz
-4 x 2GB Crucial Sticks
-PC2-6400 (400 MHz)
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
-Dell Ultrasharp 22" Monitor
-Optical Drive - ASUS - no idea what model
-OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Semi-Modular Power Supply

You'll also need a new motherboard to match the CPU,your current motherboards socket is outdated.

I would recommend mid tier CPU+motherboard combo like: AMD FX-6300 + ASUS M5A97 or intel i5-4460 + ASRock H81M.
Buying top end hardware would be a waste, any of these CPU and motherbaord combos will remove any bottlenecks you're currently dealing with.

I see that there's quite the price difference between the two options you suggested. Will I be really losing on a lot of if I decide to go with the cheaper combination?

the i5-4460 is significantly superior to fx-6300 in most games, but in games like LoL you shouln't notice difference, both are really formidable, AMD offers best bang for the buck, intel offers superior quality and performance.Really your choice, for all the tasks you've mentioned FX-6300 seems like a perfect choice for lower price, also I've offered better motherboard with it than with i5 because unlike i5 it is fully overclockable,so you can increase its performance even further, if you so desire.

So just to clarify, with the fx-6300 and Asus motherboard I'll be able to stream and turn my webcam on and still have 60+FPS?

max settings LoL streaming with webcam? sure, unless you're running 1920X1080 monitor and turned on webcam to 1080P HD then you might suffer some dips but nothing unplayable, maybe to like 40-50fps lowest.

He's not building top end rig, getting that CPU would turn it into a beast in a tight cage, shitload of potential wasted and heavily disbalanced build..seriously basic motherboard+ mid tier slightly aged GPU+ godly CPU..what did you smoke man?
