Hi everyone,

I forgot to delete the old windows 8 partitions when I installed windows 7, so now the then 1TB head drive is now showing a capacity of about 500gb. How do I recover the lost space?

Solution
That's strange.
In that case I would download the hard driver manufactures test disk.

This can reliably test the drive, partition, and format back to factory specs.

Not sure what is going on, but if this can't fix it nothing can.

Pretty sure you just right click the partition you want to delete, and choose delete.

Then I believe you can add it to another partition.

AFAIK, the only thing you can't do with Windows is shrink an existing partition.

Other than that, an aftermarket partitioning program.

Last a clean install, and partition first.

Millwright,

Thank you for your response, however when I enter disk management I am only seeing the partition that win7 is installed on plus a recovery partition , but the others , worth about 500gb I cannot see.
