Thinking of a triple 1440 setup with the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q as centre screen. I have a 4K screen right now but the scaling is starting to get on my nerves (although i must admit 4k is amazing when gaming, not so much when working) I wanted to know if anyone had any input on owning a non gsync card setup with a Asus ROG Swift PG278Q, with this setup could i reach the full 144fps ? without issues?

Solution
No problem, I will let you know as soon as they arrive.
You can read reviews till then though if you want just to pass the time. I've read through a few, apparently the panel inside of it is a well known Samsung model, and are actually really high quality. These are more of slightly lower grade ones, ones that likely didn't get like a 100% perfect score, however a lot of people report them coming without any dead pixels, very little to no noticeable bleeding, and no other real defects. The company apparently hand checks every single one before shipping it out to ensure its a good one, so I have high hopes.

Till then, you should probably just figure out the GPU situation since its kinda separate anyways. Those cards still have a lot of...
The Gsync shouldn't cause you an issue, just you won't be able to take advantage of it. Without it being able to pair up with the Nvidia GPU it is meant for, it should run just as a normal display. You should be able to get high FPS, but not sure how high. The system might work better with just the 295x2, it might have sync issues trying to run with the 290x connected.

Three things to thing about:

1. Three (3) Swifts would be about 1.3 times more pixels delivered at 2.4 times the rate so quite a load increase so think about the performance impact.

2. To my mind, buying a Swift, paying for G-Sync three times and then not using it would be like buying a 4790k and then turning off hyperthreading and running at stock speed.....you paid for a lotta stuff you ain't gonna use.

3. CF / SLI scaling has always brought very little return for that 3rd card and I compliment you and taking on the challenge of a 3rd GPU on CF....always gave me fits tho I haven't done a 3rd card on R9 series. On the 980 for example, which scales incredibly, you get an 88% fps increase on that 2nd card .... just 20% on the 3rd card and 14% on the 4th

Have not experienced any scaling issues in this configuration at all to be honest. My only gripe now is 4K and the scaling. So i was considering a SINGLE Asus ROG Swift PG278Q as the centre screen , I now have 3 options

1: Get an Asus ROG Swift PG278Q and 2x alternative screens at either end for work (and just game in the centre)
2: Sell my 295x2 & 290x and get 3x Korean monitors and oc them to 100hz (if im lucky) and then get 2x980's in sli
3: Sell my 295x2 & 290x and get 2x 980's & Get an Asus ROG Swift PG278Q and 2x alternative screens at either edge
for work (and just game in the centre)

at a bit of a loss

Not sure on the GPU part, thats a lot to consider, lot of variables.

For your number 2 option, are you looking at the Qinx monitors? If so I am about to buy the same one on Amazon. It seems like a good model, some people get them as high as 140Hz, so I think 100Hz might be fairly common with them.

Perhaps, you could consider selling your AMD cards though, getting two GTX 980 for your gaming monitor, and then you could just use like integrated graphics for smaller 1080p monitors. If they won't be gaming, the Intel iGPU works well.

Yeah im looking at the Qinx line of monitors. selling these cards though would be the last resort, i really like my setup, its just the 4k and 60hz limit thats annoying me now

Well it's not an "issue" if you get expected results .... scaling on the 3rd card has always been kind of a "eh" thing.

I'm all over option 3

I just bought one of the Qinx monitors, if you want, it has 1-3 day shipping so I should have it by Saturday at latest. I could play with mine and tell you first hand how it is. Granted, experience will vary from one display to the next, but should be pretty good.
I think that the R9 295x2 will be able to handle 120Hz, not sure about 144Hz. Might have to drop AA.

I still think you are probably best to make use of the integrated GPU for the secondary monitors. If they aren't used for gaming, then you won't notice any harm from using them.

Yeah that would be great, thanks for the help, i'll wait to hear from you and your results. Ive got someone interested in the cards so i might just get the 980's and an Asus rog 144hz monitor

Btw what games do you play? I only use an AMD Radeon 7850 with a huge overclock, but if I have one of the same games I can test specifically with that one and let you know my FPS score so you can better determine how much power you need. Your setup is probably about 7 times more powerful than my card at least though so it would just be a rough comparison, but if I manage to get it with medium settings you should with ultra.

Wanted to keep you up to date on the monitor. The display has already left Korea. Apparently they hand checked it, and are shipping it by Fedex around the world, and its expected to arrive tomorrow, but lists it could be as late as Wednesday. I will reply back ones it arrives.

I've done a lot of research and reading since I ordered my display, thought it hasn't arrived yet I wanted to come and tell you a few things.

I ordered the Qnix QX2710 Evolution II Multi True10 display. This is important to watch as this one has a different LCD panel inside of it. As a result, pretty much everyone who has tried to overclock this one gets frame skipping and as a result it cannot really overclock. I am going to try and see what I can get out of it, but chances are, I won't get more than 75Hz without frame skipping. Which will mean I will probably just have to use it at 60Hz.

If you are considering one and the 120Hz potential is crucial, you need to make sure you get the one which is just "Evolution II". If it says "True10" anywhere on it, then its the type of panel that cannot overclock. The one which does not say "True10" is a Samsung pls panel which tends to overclock well, but it limits you down to a single video port, and absolutely no menu or other options in it, but people say the lack of menu gives it really low response lag.
