Even though Nvidia recommends a 500W powersupply, Do I really need it?
I've currently got a AMD FX 8320 which draws a lot of power, but not overclocked. So will I really need 500W? When the ASUS version only need 1 8-pin instead of 2 8-pins?

More about : gtx 970 430w psu

Yes you should probably get a 500 watt power supply I can already picture the computer shutting off randomly due to not enough power.

Yes, you should upgrade your PSU.
Don't see the sense in buying a 300 dollar gpu with a 40 dollar PSU :p

If its a high quality unit with atleast 28a on the 12v rail it might work.

125W CPU, GTX970 TDP 165W (dual six pin graphics card 75+75+75=225W potential. (1 8-pin is equivalent to 2 6-pin connectors) Measurements from the benchmarking sites saw spikes as high as 300W from the 970. Add your peripherals, fans, motherboard, and ram to the mix and you would be pushing it.

Could you recommend a power supply? For less than $80

Corsair is bad. Get a EVGA or XFX 650w

Get a new PSU. The cx430 has 32a on the 12v rail, but uses cheap capacitors and I would not suggest putting that unit under such a load.

Not all of them. Their higher end units are very good. It's their budget models that have issues.

Get the PSU, Bhavneet Pannu suggested. That will help you a ton later.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $49.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

The $50 is mail and rebate. I've never actually received any of those mail in rebates so would this power supply also be good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

The EVGA 750 B2 is an extraordinary price for a decent PSU.... not quite a G2 or P2 but for $50 a steal. The Rosewill Capstone's are pretty decent.... dunno nuttin' about the Arc

The one you picked also has a $20 rebate. I do a lotta PC builds every year ... usually with 2 - 4 rebates per build and I have never "not gotten" my rebate.

Rosewill in there PSU's are Meh there decent, not the best. You really shouldn't cheap out on the PSU... Its the heart of the pc.. You said anything lower than 80 bucks.. thats 75 :p

You really should spend the little more for the EVGA PSU, You'll be glad in the end...

Remember, the cheapest is the most expensive..

Rosewil was an "eh" brand for the longest time.... jonnyguru seems t0 like the Tachyon and Capstone models. The Capstone isn't quite as good as the B2 but not like the Rosewill's of old that we sneered at.

750 watt Rosewill Capstone - 9.5 performance / 8.5 Build Quality (18.0 Total)
