So I've been scouring the web for days trying to figure this out but I'm at the end of my rope here.
Background: I was swapping out a hard drive on my PC, and after I was done fiddling around inside my tower I realized that I had no internet. The icon in the lower left says "unidentified network, no internet access" with a yellow triangle. I have wifi
Here are the things I HAVE tried, with no success:
Under the windows connections network page, there is only one icon that says Ethernet/unidentified network/Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
From my research I think I may have a DHCP problem, but I'm not sure where to go from here. I've tried almost everything I can think of. I'm worried that I may have damaged something physically in my computer when I was messing around with it.
Please help me Tom's Hardware Community, you're my only hope.

Here are the things I HAVE tried, with no success:
Switched from static IP/DNS to "obtain automatically"
Disabled "automatically detect settings" under LAN settings (re-enabled after seeing it did not work)
Tried ipconfig /release got "An error occurred while releasing interface Ethernet : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint."
Tried ipconfig /renew got "The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for
this operation."
Unplugged modem and wireless router, waited, plugged back in.
Different ethernet cord.
Plugged ethernet from modem straight to computer.
Waited a day for it to fix itself.
System restore.
Praying to my computer for mercy.
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
