If I were to get the Sennheiser PC 350 Special Edition Headset, would I need more than an onboard sound card to really the full potential of the headset? Also, I am wondering if I should go with a Sennheiser 7.1 Surround Sound Headset as those come with a small USB to 3.5 jack that I heard is like a mini sound card. Is this a good option? Thanks!

Onboard sound is pretty good these days so you should be fine with just that, although with a good sound card you can hear a difference.

It's not like you will use onboard and think that it's bad, it will still be fine, but if you compare the two side by side you can tell a difference.

Using the USB one is also an option, but not really needed. If the cost is low you may as well get them as its easier to configure for surround sound.
