I've got the money to upgrade my gpu and in the future am getting a 4690k as well as a new motherboard.

Im torn between getting the 780 or the 970. I've heard great things from both but im not sure which is going to be better for me. The 970 and 780 are both around the same price. Im not sure which exact brand to get but if you could help me with that i'd be appreciated. I want to keep this below 350 thanks

I'd go with the 970 as its a little faster and more efficient. Get the Asus strix, MSI gamer, or Gigabyte windforce.

The 970 is as fast as a 780Ti when overclocked lol...

Buy the Gigabyte GTX-970 WindForce G1 Gaming card. It has the best overclockability and cooling.

For a new build, it depends on your time frame, if you're still a few weeks or even months away from the final purchase/s I'll say wait, hold off until the GTX970 becomes more available, it's a devastatingly fast card and if my little Inno3D part is anything to go by, as noisy as a mouse.
Wearing soft shoes.
Walking on a thick carpet.
On tiptoes.
Performance wise the GTX970 is a bit ahead of the GTX780 and a little below the GTX780Ti, all on just dual 6 pin PCI-E power.

970 is better in almost every way. Don't get EVGA though. MSI or ASUS is the way to go this time

Your speaking to some one who has had both. MSI 970 with no doubt in my mind it destroys the 780 my previous card was a 780 palit super jetscream Super overclocked so probs one of the best 780's and it really does destroy it performance was I believe I have over 600+ extra score over my 780 on 3dmark extreme don't quote me on that tho I was a while back but my 970 msi hits 5100+ score on 3DMark Firestrike Extreme. and you be saving a large amoun on power consumption and noise.
