This is so hard to choose which sound card to upgrade to. I built a new PC Asus Maximum VII hero motherboard, G Skill Sniper 16g ram, Intel 4590k cpu, Sapphire R9 290 x Gpu, Samsung 840 evo SSD boot drive, WD black 2TB Hdd, and want to upgrade my old pc sound card from Sound Blaster x-fi titanium base model. What would be a good upgrade, I listen to a lot of music have 16,000 songs in iTunes, I watch blu rays and yes game alot, primarily FPS. My speakers are the Klipsch 5.1 pro media ultras with a completely rebuilt amp. The speaker system utilizes (3) 3.5 mini plugs for connection, one for front speakers, one for rear and one for center/sub. I have been looking at the Asus Xonar Phoebus and D2X as well as the newer Sound Blaster Z. I bought an HT Omega Claro II but its pci not pci-e so useless and I am looking to sell it.
Any suggestions on an upgrade from the older x-fi ti. Oh I really don't use headphones but once in awhile

None, sound cards are mostly just marketing. You don't need one. The internal sound card is good enough.
As far as headphones go, you'll mostly benefit from a DAC.

Only sound card you just MIGHT benefit from is an external one (USB, outside and as far as possible from the whole system). when you put a sound card inside of a system with a ton of noise and vibrations and same signal that goes through the integrated sound card you cant expect any real benefit, if not even make the sound even worse.
