So, crazy situation... I normally keep my computer in my basement during the summer (it's cooler and drier, so I don't have any heat issues) and during the fall/winter months I bring it up to my office on the main floor.

I recently did so and now the network connection is incredibly slow. I am using the exact same cat5 wired cable to connect the computer (just running it under the house in the my basement, it's just laying on the floor now), so what in the world could affect the connection speed? Before when it was in the basement using the exact same cable and setup, it worked fine...any ideas?

You could have broken a connection during the move. Do you have the tools necessary to reterminate both ends?

I do not, but I could test the cable with a laptop (disabling wireless) and seeing if I see the same issue, this would help me determine if it's the cable or computer...I'll try that...

Well, plugged it into my laptop and had the same issues which led me to the switch it was hooked up to and it looks like it was that connection, oddly...I removed the connection to that and went right to my router and it works...no clue why the connection to the switch would be bad. Thanks for the quick response and help/suggestion.
