Hello I recently purchased a Netgear R6250 Wireless Router and my current wireless adapter doesn't support the dual band 5ghz channel.

I'm at a loss on where to start to look for a good desktop wireless adapter that can take advantage of this new router that I've purchased.

Here is my router specs for those who are interested: http://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-routers/R6250.aspx#tab-techspecs

speedtest: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3785294539

Can anyone here help me find a good wireless adapter for a desktop pc?

Your current adapter is already getting the maximum speed you can from your ISP. If all you do with the PC is access the internet via the router then you will gain nothing from buying a faster nic card for your PC. It wouldn't matter if you put a 40g fiber connection between your PC and the router you will never get more bandwidth than you pay for....except in your case it appears you actually get 18m when you only pay for 15m so you have a very generous ISP.
